(1) The election committee, hereafter referred to as “committee,” shall have at least three members and must be appointed by the business council.

(2) Committee Term (Regular Elections). The business council shall appoint the committee at least 100 calendar days prior to the annual tribal election, which is the second Saturday of June, and the committee shall continue to function until 30 days after the elections, at which time the committee shall be disbanded.

(3) Committee Term (Special Elections). In the event of a special election, duly called under the provisions of this chapter, the business council upon determining that a special election must be conducted, shall appoint three persons to the committee and the committee shall function for the period specified for special elections as provided in this chapter and for 30 days after the election, at which time the committee shall be disbanded.

(4) Compensation. The committee shall serve on a volunteer basis; however, upon a determination by the business council that funds are available, the committee members shall be reimbursed for necessary travel and expenses as deemed appropriate to carry out the duties of the committee.
