(1) The casting of votes for candidates for tribal office shall be accomplished by the use of secret ballot. Only one vote for each eligible position may be cast. If more than one vote is cast for a single position that vote shall be determined invalid; however, other portions of the ballot, shall remain valid unless invalidated for similar reasons. Ballots shall be deposited in a locked ballot box, and the ballot box shall remain locked and not opened until the conclusion of balloting, and in the presence of the committee.

(2) Any qualified voter may vote by presenting himself/herself at the polls during the voting time specified by the committee, and by first signing the voter register, marking and placing in the ballot box, the ballot which shall be handed to him/her.

(3) Absentee voting shall be permitted. Ballots must be individually requested on a timely basis so as to allow receipt of the ballot prior to the election. Any ballot not received at least one day prior to the date of election shall be determined invalid. An eligible voter, shall be allowed to vote by absentee ballot when said voter is bedridden or handicapped and unable to vote in person, or it is known to the voter that he/she will be unavailable to vote in person due to necessary business, and that such reasons for absentee balloting are formally documented.

(4) The method of absentee balloting shall be by mail, or hand carried to the tribal office on the Friday before election date, before 5:00 p.m. Two envelopes will be provided to the absentee voter. The first envelope which shall be plain, and the ballot shall be placed in this envelope. The second envelope shall bear the address of where the absentee ballot will be mailed to. This first envelope, containing the ballot shall be sealed and placed in the second envelope. The ballot must be mailed in this manner. The committee, upon receipt of the absentee ballot, shall remove the first envelope remaining sealed, and then deposited in the ballot box specified by the committee. The absentee ballot, will then be opened at the conclusion of the regular balloting and counted in the same manner as all ballots.
