A person commits the violation of cruelty to animals if such person:

(1) Physically mistreats an animal by abuse or mistreatment, including but not limited to killing, maiming, mutilating, beating, torturing, poisoning, wounding or tormenting an animal; or

(2) Possesses the animal and neglects to furnish adequate food, drink, shelter or care to the animal, including failure to seek appropriate medical care for the animal. [Ord. 12-15-2021A § 8.17, 2021.]
