The burden of proof rests upon the applicant or sponsor to establish eligibility for enrollment. Documentation of birth and parentage is required and marriage when applicable. Certificates of birth, certificates of death, baptismal records, copies of probate findings, affidavits, paternity statements, marriage licenses, petitions for marriage recognition, adoption records or records of the Bureau of Indian Affairs and tribe are types of documentary evidence to establish eligibility. The burden of proof in a disenrollment action rests with the tribe. [Ord. 1 § 9, 1985.]
