For the purpose of this chapter, the tribe shall consider that a marriage exists if a couple has lived together for a period of five consecutive years or more. To establish that such a marriage exists, a petition for marriage recognition attested to by not less than three individuals must be approved by the citizens business council. The petition must be submitted with the application for enrollment.

Marriages according to state law or tribal customs with records that such marriages occurred are considered legal marriages for tribal purposes. [Ord. 1 § 13, 1985.]
